You have to do this cruise! by
Diane K. and Cindy L. from Highland, IN/Las Vegas, NV
Sailing date: Mar 2009 Pros:
Everything
Cons:
Nothing
My sister and I recently sailed on Carnival Glory for our first cruise ever. It was the best vacation we have ever had! Our stateroom was spacious and clean, the entertainment was never ending, the staff was respectful and polite. I can't compare it to any other cruise since it was our first but I can say, it definitely will not be our last. And the food....................:)
Ship Quality The ship was always clean, yet we rarely saw anyone cleaning it.
Dining/Food The food was FABULOUS. What a variety. Waiter and server always had a smile and remembered I liked coffee with my meal.
Stateroom Quality We slept like babies.
Ship Staff Quality Going above and beyond doesn't even put a dent in it. They were Awesome!
Entertainment & Activities There was something for everyone. Even scrapbooking classes, my favorite hobby!

Warm and wonderful by
A Traveler from Aurora, Ohio
Sailing date: Dec 2008 Pros:
Perfect mix of on and off board activities
Cons:
Hard to find sunny places to relax on the days at sea
This was my third cruise and it was wonderful. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was excellent with lots of variety. Everything was impecably clean and stayed that way as staff worked around the clock to stay on top of things. There was plenty of activities to interest myself and my husband as well as the teenagers we brought along with us. There was a nice variety of evening shows including musical numbers, comedy shows and an illusionist. In addition, there were musical groups playing on deck and in the bars throughout the day.
The only down side was that on our "fun days at sea" we had to search around for free lounge chairs since many were reserved with no one around to use them. We had a balcony room, so we were able to sit out and enjoy the warm weather with more privacy. I would definitely recommend this if you are able to swing the extra cost.

Belize City, Belize We did the snorkeling here at Goff's Caye and it was great. We have snorkeled before but all agreed that the coral and plant life were superior to other places we have seen. We also saw a wide range of fish. It was definitely worthwhile.
Costa Maya, Mexico The port was wonderful with lots of shopping and a nice pool. We chose to go into the village and rent a jet ski which was fun. The local vendors were pretty aggressive trying to get us to look at their shops, and we couldn't walk more than 10 feet without having someone after us to buy something.
Cozumel, Mexico We took a taxi to Adventure Park on our own. I was very glad we didn't spend the $81 per person for the ship's excursion to this location. We paid $40 round trip by taxi for 5 of us. Our son did the climbing walls for an additional $45 and the rest of us watched, then we all enjoyed the beach at no additional charge.
Nassau, Bahamas We took a tour of the city here, then went to the straw market. The Queen's staircase and Atlantis were both amazing. The city itself was quite crowded on the day we were there, but we were one of 4 cruise ships docked there for the day. If you like shopping (which we really don't) the straw market was amazing. The people weren't near as aggressive as those in Costa Maya and there were lots of different things to buy.

We had a great time by
Belinda P. from Cocoa, FL
Sailing date: Apr 2007 Pros:
The variety of things to do onboard
Cons:
Overrun with un-behaved childred. 11 unsupervised children at a table next to us at dinner without any adults -- it was pretty awful.
The ship, crew, activities are all excellent! The fault I find with Carnival is their lax policies regarding supervision of minors. While it is ultimately the parents responsibility, some guidelines by the cruiseline would help others enjoy their vacation. We had to step over teenagers lying on the floor to get into the Red Sails restaurant. Dining was superb, especially the Emerald Supper Club. That was fantastic. Shows were good, but we enjoyed the entertainment on the Fantasy much more.
I will sail Glory again.

Nice time on the Glory by
A Traveler from Princeton, NJ
Sailing date: Jan 2007 Pros:
Food choices
Cons:
Plastic coffee/tea cups
This was my 7th cruise (2 previous on Carnival) and I thought this ship had many amenities and would appeal to families as well as singles, couples, etc. The food choices were plentiful - sushi, pizza, fish & chips, grilled burgers and hot dogs, asian cuisine, as well as the daily buffets (themed) and dining room meals. There were also plenty of activities, however we didn't like that some of the shows were before our (late) dinner seating and if we missed them we were out of luck since the later show was during our dinner. Dinner at 8:30 was too late - we did try to get an earlier seating however they were all booked up. Our room steward was excellent - came in and freshened up about 4 times a day! And our head waitress was also extremely professional and courteous - gave us terrific recommendations every night based on prior seating diner preferences.
Ship Quality Felt like the ship was kept super clean the first few days, then it sort of dropped off towards the end - tables weren't cleaned up quickly at the buffet, nor were the public bathrooms cleaned as often.
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality Nice mini-fridge in the room, great linens on the bed.

Nassau, Bahamas We enjoyed a boat ride over to the Atlantis Resort but not really enough time on this island to do much else
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Loved Megan's Bay - spent the whole day lying on the beach : )
Philipsburg, St. Maarten Love Oriental Beach - again spent the whole day but had to pay for beach chairs and umbrella - not too expensive though, around $8 each.

A beautiful ship by
Helen H. from Atlantic Beach, FL
Sailing date: Nov 2006 Pros:
The food and entertainment was wonderful!
Cons:
Deparkation in St. Thomas and Port Canerval could have been better organized.
This was our 2nd time sailing on the Carnival Glory. We were very pleased. We had a balcony room for the first time and we would have a hard time going back to an inside cabin after this experience. The room was very spacious and it was wonderful to have a balcony to relax on. We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary out on the balcony overlooking St. thomas. Very romantic!! The bed was extremely comfortable - All down bed covering! the service was wonderful throughout the ship. The food was very good in the platinum dining room and the red sail restaurant. We always eat breakfast and dinner in the formal dining room and lunch on top at the buffet. The shows were all excellent. The weather was a little windy so the ship was a little rocky at times and I guess it bothered some people but I really enjoyed the rocking at night. The only place we thought could be improved was to better organize the debarkations. In St. Thomas people got very upset because of the lines getting off the ship. We felt Carnival should of had some staff members out there organizing and directing the people. There was a long line when we got to the ship to go aboard. I'm not sure how they could better organize that. Maybe give everyone a different color for departing. I'm sure the experts could have some suggestions. Since it;s called a fun ship, everyone works real hard to make sure you have a good time. If you don't have a good time, it's your own fault. The only other negative for us was the smoke in the casino. I think the ship should have a non smoking casino. I think a lot more people would gamble if there was one. The smoke was so thick in there that we couldn't tolerate it for long and we don't have any health problems. The Glory has definately changed my impression of carnival cruise lines. We previously preferred Holland and Princiss. I would highly recommend the Glory to anyone.

Nassau, Bahamas We took a cab over to Atlantis Resort since we have been to Nassau many times. It was very impressive. They aquarium was fantastic.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas We took a cab to the Red Hook Fairy over to St. Johns since we had been to St. Thomas before. Had lunch at the Ocean Grill which was very nice, then we took a cab to Trunk Bay to go snorkeling. Trunk Bay is a beautiful beach and one you shouldn't miss. It reminded me of beaches in Hawaii and Costa Rica. Unfortunately, the snorkeling wasn't very good that day. The water was a littley murky because of the weather.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten We had read that the french side St. Martin was better so we were going to take a cab over there when we were immediately approached by a time share rep who convinced us that we could get a free ride by viewing a time share so we sat through the time share 90 min presentation. Said no thanks and then they transported us over to st. Martin. We were a little disappointed with it. We had lunch at a restaurant that Frommer had recommended and walked around the town. There are jewelry stores everywhere. My husband walked up the hill to see the fort, then we took a cab bak to the dutch side which we thought seemed to be nicer.
