Cons: A bit of rough weather but the crew handled it well We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and have already decided another cruise is in our future. The ship was lovely and the food and staff were impeccable. Ship Details: Ship Quality Very clean and the staff was constantly working to keep it so. It took us a while to figure out the layout but we found our way around very well. Dining/Food The Golden Fleece was a treasure-for a mere $30 we enjoyed amazing meals and service. Truffles was also excellent but we were especially thrilled to have the supper club option with its standout staff and food. Stateroom Quality We had a lovely room with a balcony which added greatly to our enjoyment. Our room was kept very clean and we noticed a cabinet door coming loose but it was fixed before we ever mentioned it. Ship Staff Quality Every single person on the ship made eye contact and spoke to us, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The Decor of the Ship was not appealing. Public areas looked cheap and the "entertainment" followed this trend. I was disgusted at what was offered such as a"Hairy Man Contest" and male "strippers",utilizing unsuspecting audience participants. Avoid "Billie's Piano Bar" unless you want to hear about parts of a woman's anatomy. The atmosphere reminded me of an Animal House alumni reunion complete with food fights. Ship Details: Ship Quality Dining/Food Stateroom Quality Ship Staff Quality The Lido Deck staff were not friendly. They needed to be reminded that it takes less exertion to smile than frown. Cozumel, Mexico There were so many on the Mayan Ruin tour that it was not enjoyable even with divisions into groups. The Ruins themselves were impressive. The shopping trip was a waste of time. There was not enough time. George Town, Grand Cayman The kayak tour was a joke. The "Mangrove swamp" consisted of one tree. I am sure when we left, they were laughing at the tourist "suckers". However, the guide was good. He actually towed two of the older participants. He also was one of the few at all the ports who did not ask for tips. So, I gave him a big tip. Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, Honduras The West Side tour was good; however I wished we had gone snorkeling here instead of Grand Cayman based on what others were saying about the snorkeling at Roatan. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful. Overall Rating: About the Reviewer: Age: 30 - 49 Cruise Experience: 4 - 6 cruises Traveler Type: Couple Stateroom Type: Oceanview Great Cruise by Chris D from New Jersey Sailing date: Sep 2006 Pros: Very Relaxing, Casual & Fun This was the 3rd cruise we have taken with Carnival and I loved the ship. We were on both of the sister ships (Miracle & Spirit) and I have to say that this ship was much nicer. The decor on this ship was more attractive and the staff was more friendly. There was constant activities to do on the ship or you could do nothing and just relax. There was a change in itinary due to a medical emergency on the cruise prior which caused us to embark late, but the change was excellent. We switched form Tortola to Grand Turks and the port and island were bueatiful. Of course the food was good and there was pleanty. You could barely turn a corner without tripping on some kind of food. To sum things up, I have already started looking at the same itinary for next year in June or July and I believe the Miracle will be taking the Legends place for this. We will be on it. Ship Details: Ship Quality Dining/Food Stateroom Quality You can not plug a portable DVD player into the tv to watch movies. The bathroom need some work, the light was flickering and the soap dispenser was broken. I was constantly asking for fresh glasses. We went to the Rain forrest and it was boring. I questioned if my 6 month pregnant wife would be able to handle it and they said "well it's about 45 minutes of walking. Can she handle that?" The truth is there is about 10 minutes of walking and you see nothing of interest. Save you money and go to the Rum factory. Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Look out point was great for pictures, but don't buy anything up there. All of the items were about 4 times the normal price. Overall Rating: About the Reviewer: Age: 30 - 49 Cruise Experience: 7+ cruises Traveler Type: Group Stateroom Type: Balcony Anniversary Cruise! by A Traveler from Chicago, IL Sailing date: Sep 2006 Pros: Being with old and new friends Cons: Leaving from the New York port was very disappointing My overall impression of the Carnival Legend is that it was okay - after you have seen one it's like you have seen them all after all this is about my 8th or 9th cruise. We ran across some rough waters leaving New York, but it was smooth sailing after that. I must say that the DJ abroad the boat was good for the first time. Ship Details: Ship Quality Nice size ship, the decor was ok, it was not that clean of a boat. Dining/Food There was not a lot to choose from and the food was not that great and the dining room service was poor.
