Good Cruise despite Ida by
A Traveler from Houston, TX
Sailing date: Nov 2009 Pros:
Continous suppy of frozen yogurt
Cons:
Ship is a little too big for my taste
Ship was clean and nice but larger than any I had been on. The extra 1000 people makes a difference for congestion and lines.
Food quality was good but service was marginal - part of this was probably a result of our waiter being a "short timer" at the end of his 8 month service.
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality Room steward was very efficient.
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities Shows were high level and the secondary performers around the ship were very good.

A Traveler from Illinois
Sailing date: Oct 2009 Pros:
Not much
Cons:
The whole trip
This was our family vacation and had looked so forward to this trip and had saved for it. My mom dad myself and my 13 yr old daughter have been on 1 other cruise with Carnival out of Mobile and it was the BEST experience. Don't get me wrong, everyone has their preferences and thats fine....I just don't think with Carnivals family ideals this would happen. As soon as we boarded this ship....there is a big sign "welcome to the gayribbean cruise".
This was not the family atmosphere we were looking for....the pda that was displayed and the other displays of affection were not even appropriate for the men and women couples to display in public. We were on this cruise during Halloween and I didnt think it could get any worse til the costume contest and party.....We did not participate much because of the lack of control the ship took of these people..... we always enjoy the shows but they had a way of ruining that also. We contacted Carnival when we returned and they said they could not do anything about it. I explained to them Disney Cruises has a Gay cruise but they let everyone know so not as to be surprised when you walk on a ship and you have a young child with you and don't want them to be stuck with this behavior for 7 days. The smooching and canoodling on the couches with a threesome that should have been in their cabin, the breakfast table that was too much to stand so we just ate in our cabin or not at all for breakfast
Ship Quality
Dining/Food This was not a good experience at all. The food was not comparable to our first and while standing in one line, an employee came and stuck a closed sign 2 people in front of me and said this line is closed. We said we were in line and he said sorry, we are closed.
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality The staff made it known they were not happy, we heard how they were not happy with their living quarters, how they were not happy with the carnival people and they were not paid well
Entertainment & Activities Did not attend because of the pda and the other displays by the Gayribbean cruise

Fantastic time by
Dorthea M. from Texas
Sailing date: Feb 2009 Pros:
Cozumel
Cons:
Wasn't the ships fault, but the water was awful rough at Caymen Island and had trouble snorkling.
It is a fun ship. I took my daughter as she had never been on a cruise before and now she is ready to go again. Always something to do.
Ship Quality Was very clean. Some of bathrooms were small. Rather the stalls were.
Dining/Food Food was always good, and so happy to get lobster, as last cruise on different line- they didn't serve it.
Stateroom Quality Very happy with it and and condition of it.
Ship Staff Quality Always willing to help and kept the activities going.
Entertainment & Activities WONDERFUL!!!

Cozumel, Mexico I had been parsailing before, but daughter had not, so she really enjoyed it. Margaritville
Don't Miss: Parasailing
George Town, Grand Cayman Was one of the lucky tours that got to go where stingrays were. Was so windy that alot of the tours were cancelled. Margaritville
Don't Miss: Getting to pet the stingrays.
Montego Bay, Jamaica We went jungle river tubing. The river was down, but that was due to nature. Still had a good time. Margaritville

No More Carnival by
Anthony S from Houston, TX
Sailing date: Feb 2009 Pros:
Dining Room Waitstaff & Lido Deck Staff
Cons:
The Rest
I was very excited about the jumbo movie screen, but all they ever showed was CNN news and the same music videos over and over. I didn't go on vacation to watch the news. Also why have a live band playing all day in front of the movie screen. The only time they showed movies was when the ship was in port, which means you didn't get a chance to see the movies. The Cruise Directors staff was more interested in each other and not in the customers. The food in the main dining room was great and the staff was awesome. The lido deck staff was awesome aswell, except for waking me up to ask if I want another drink. The Stewards that took care of our room did a great job. All other staff seemed like they just didn't care if the customer was happy or not. I won't ever do another Carnival Cruise.
Ship Quality Color scheme was the most boring of any cruise I've been on.
Dining/Food Main Dining room food and staff were awesome.
Stateroom Quality Great Job.

It was fabulous by
BRIDGET HOWZE from HOUSTON, TX
Sailing date: Dec 2008 Pros:
The lay out of the ship
Cons:
Not enough African American entertainment and music
I enjoyed the ship very much. I've sailed several other cruise lines but I do enjoy Carnival the most. Some things I wasnt to fond of. Reservations at the Supper CLub the food was out of this world, but advertised that we would have Live entertainment that didnt happen. Disappointed, also not enough black entertainment and music. I found some of the staff wasnt too friendly. Overall, I did enjoy my cruise I received much needed rest.

great cruise by
Diane K from Houston, TX
Sailing date: Sep 2008 Pros:
great to leave out of Houston
Cons:
New port was not fully prepared for smooth operations. But I am sure they will get this. Most important is that this ship does not have great dance music or dance venues. Lots of dancers and nowhere to dance.
The ship was good, but again, it lacked venues for people who enjoy dancing and dancing music. This ship (maybe all of Carnival ships) have elminiated the Gala Buffet - we missed that.
Ship Quality This ship is difficult to get around. They have 2 dinning rooms. One in the back and the other in the middle of the ship, so there are 3 floors that you must navigate to go from one end of the ship to the other. We found a lot of "lost people"!
Dining/Food They menu is average. They had the same thing almost everynight with a few different choices. It got a little boring - but the food was very good
Stateroom Quality my biggest "gripe" is that there are not non-smoking designated room. I am allergic to nicotine and always find it difficult.
Ship Staff Quality very accomodating
Entertainment & Activities shows are ok. and other venues need improvement

Cozumel, Mexico this is always a nice place
Don't Miss: Chankanaab Park - even if you don't dive - see Edouard at the 2nd dive counter and he will give you a intro to diving. A serious and excellent dive master
George Town, Grand Cayman this is the one island I truly do not like - Once you have done the main things on this island, you never want to go back
Don't Miss: swimming with the sting rays - fantastic
Montego Bay, Jamaica I prefer Ocho Rios
Don't Miss: swimming with the dolphins - the best place ever - the dolphins are truely wonderful here

Cruise Carnival Conquest - Galveston, Tx by
A Traveler from Houston, TX
Sailing date: Aug 2008 Pros:
Food, Entertainment, Most all Staff
Cons:
Cost of alcoholic beverages, prices of excursions, fees for other activities
Ship was great, clean, staff wonderful (with exception of our room steward). Food was just excellent. Know ahead of time that you can go into ports without participating in an excursion. Grand Cayman, Cozumel are safe enough to rent a car and tour on your own. Jamaica is a different story - take a group excursion there.
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality Our room was on the lowest level and we slept like a dream! Room was not too small nor was it very large but just enough for two 6' tall people. Negative comment about the bed: Twins are put together to make a King and in middle of night they begin to separate. Doesn't make for a very romantic time.
Ship Staff Quality With exception of our room steward.
Entertainment & Activities Las Vegas style shows and comedians were just great. Cruise director kept a tight itinerary of activities on board at sea and in port. You don't have to participate in everything so don't worry yourself about that the first day.

Decent value and convenient by
Matt S from Houston, TX
Sailing date: Aug 2008 Pros:
Staff was excellant
Cons:
Too many people on ship, ship a bit tired
Quite a broad spectrum of people on the ship. I believe there were 3000 passengers aboard for our cruise. It got very crowded at times. Ship was built in 2002 and is in need of a refurbishment. It was kept quite clean but looked tired.
The best part is the Galveston departure. If you live in Houston, this is very convenient.
I have been on Princess cruises as well. I prefer them over Carnival.

Cozumel, Mexico Very nice port center. Good shopping and bars.
Don't Miss: Dolphin Encounters. Nice facility, good staff and great experience for the kids to swim with the dolphins
George Town, Grand Cayman Great port, very clean, nice people. I wish the ship would have spent more time here. The last tender left at 3:30 in the afternoon. I would have rathered had more time here.
Don't Miss: Stingray City
Montego Bay, Jamaica Will be expensive to spend the day at the beach. Charged you to get on, rent chairs, etc.
Don't Miss: I hear the waterfalls and zip line rides are very good
