Great Cruise! by
A Traveler from Clarksburg, WV
Sailing date: Sep 2009 Pros:
The comfort of curising, what a great staff.
Cons:
The wait to get off the ship.
We had sailed this ship in Feb. 09 out of Miami, it is a nice ship - great beds, food, staff, etc. The ports of call were what we were expecting, the shore trips offered by the cruise line were excellent.
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities As we had just used this ship in Feb. 09, some of the entertainment was a repeat, however we were not disappointed.

St John was not the best place to visit
My family and me were impressed with the size of the ship, all the rooms and amenities and the restaurants. We overate because the food was just everywhere and delicious. All the facilities were wonderful and incredibly clean. The main restaurants are beautifully designed and inviting.
Ship Quality
Dining/Food Incredible chefs working for the seating dinner. The quality and variety were amazing and exquisite!
Stateroom Quality The only problem I had was the smell of the bathroom.
Ship Staff Quality Everyone was really friendly and helpful

Carnival...never again! by
A Traveler from Cedar Park, TX
Sailing date: Nov 2008 Pros:
warm chocolate melting cake, evening entertainment
Cons:
nighttime stop in San Juan, constant partying, loud music late into night
This is my third and last Carnival cruise. Better to save a little more and go on a more upscale cruise line unless you REALLY like the party scene and just like to be loud, stay drunk, and act stupid. Don't book a room just below the Lido deck or just above/below the Promenade deck unless you want to listen to chairs scraping across the floor above you or you want to feel and hear the bass music thumping under your floor while you try to sleep. We were just above one of the nightclubs and they were at it until midnight or 1:00am every night. We were next to two college age guys who had other friends just down the hall...they were always slamming door, yelling and laughing in the hallways, drinking, and smoking pot on the balcony next to ours. A girl in their party got in my face and yelled at me when I politely asked them to keep it down. Even the adults on this ship got stupid. People walking around all over the ship in tshirts and sweat pants, flipflops and ballcaps. OK if you're around the pool, but not everywhere else on the ship...low class. Overall, a bad experience, one I hope not to repeat. Chances will be better on a more upscale cruise line. Anyway, good points below.
Ship Quality ship was clean and well kept...poor planning on room/deck layout...too many people
Dining/Food lobster and shrimp were good in dining room and they will give you more if you only ask
Stateroom Quality wonderful linens and pillows on the beds
Ship Staff Quality nice to be remembered and called by first name on sight
Entertainment & Activities cheesy activities overall, but a great evening performance by singers and dancers ("The Big Easy" based on some oldies and Motown hits in New Orleans and Mardi Gras)

Great Cruise by
Steven B. from Albuquerque, NM
Sailing date: May 2008 Pros:
Crew on the ship and the room
Cons:
Excursions
This is our second cruise this year and our 10th overall, with it being the first family cruise on Carnival. We had stayed away from Carnival due to a previous experience, but many other passengers that we talked with on other cruises kept suggesting Carnival. We are glad that we did choose Carnival. The crew on the ship were very friendly and always willing to help and the food was better than what we experienced on Norwegian in March. We will definitely cruise again with Carnival.
Ship Quality The exterior ship looked good but you could tell that it was in need of re-freshing. The rooms and interior all looked great.
Dining/Food Lines were always long for buffet and other dining. It would be great if they had more choices for food. The ship that we cruised on Norwegian had separate restaurants for a premium that you could select which we enjoyed.
Stateroom Quality This is the first Suite that we have ever done and it was great.
Ship Staff Quality Overall everyone was great, we did have some issues with our waiter and a person at the shore excursion desk but this was really out of the ordinary for the staff on the ship.
Entertainment & Activities Some old acts on the ship which we had seen on another cruise a couple of years ago.
Collapse List of Ports
St. John's, Antigua The zip lines are great fun. We did this same excursion in March and wanted to experience it again. The staff at the zip lines were not fun. If you are also going to St. Lucia, then do the rain forest zip lines there, they are much funnier and the staff is incredible.
Don't Miss: Zip lines or kayak tour
Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I. We had also visited this island in March and went to the Virgin Gorda baths by boat and snorkeled around the island then we had a tour of the baths, it was great and the people were great. This time, we took a boat to the otherside of the island and then were taxi'ed to the baths where we walked down to the baths. You were allowed to snorkel there but you could not take the rented equipment through the tour to use on the better side. Check into the excursion before booking if you really want to snorkel and see the marine life then make sure it is the boat tour and not the island walk tour.
Don't Miss: Virgin Gorda Baths
Nassau, Bahamas I do not enjoy the Bahamas, although my family did take a water taxi and go to hotel Atlantis. They spent the afternoon at their water park and had a great time, but be warned that it is expensive. It was $100+ per person, you would have a better time at any water park in the states and for far less money. Additionally do not plan to ship in Bahamas, very expensive, deals are better at many of the other islands.
Don't Miss: Nothing!!
San Juan, Puerto Rico We did a nightime excursion which was really fun and we had never been able to do in the past. We were a little rushed to get off the ship and back in time.
Don't Miss: Biolumenecse trip
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Always love St. Thomas
Don't Miss: Any sort of diving or snokle activity, shopping is great. For Jewerly go to Imperial Jewelers, great deals

Wow...what a birthday! by
Ted P. from Michigan
Sailing date: Oct 2007 Pros:
Our special tour of the Bridge and posing for pictures with the Captain & his Officers.
Cons:
It rained the first couple days.....other then that, it was GREAT!
Our overall impression of the ship was very good. We recieved excellent service and we were exceptionally happy with our room. We were on the back corner of the ship so we had a larger then normal room and a balcony that stretched around a corner, so it was exceptionally large.
We had a fairly large group, so it was nice to have a bigger room for everyone to come and go from.....and still have room to move around, without feeling crowded. Our son was across the hall from us. The first day we both shot across the hall to talk to him and with 4 adults standing in his room......it was extremely clostraphobic! So from that point on, we called him on the phone and said "come over here a minute"! Our room at one point had 9 people in it, hanging out....all making plans on what we were going to do next.....some of us were on the balcony, some in the room.....but never feeling crowded or cramped.......9 people! That was an awesome room!
Several of our guests were first time cruisers.....so that was really neat too. The ship was very pretty with lots of glass and chrome.....so it was very sparkely. They were all in awe.
We were very pleased with their responses and how thrilled they all were with everything. We heard thank you so many times! I know when I speak for them, that they were all just as excited and thrilled with everything as we were.
This was our 3rd cruise.....and we will defiantly use Carnival again! We are very pleased with them.
Ship Quality They were changing carpet in the hallways at every port. Alternating different hallways around the ship. We were amazed. And the carpet does look really nice everywhere. You don't see any wear spots at all, anywhere. And the down comforters and pillows......It felt like a Sheraton! Very nice.
Dining/Food We ate lunch on the lido deck on sea days.....but other then that, ate breakfast and dinner in the dining room. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the food and the spectacular service. Our waitstaff was exceptional. We could not have asked for better. We were very pleased with all of it. And everyone had an open mind to try new things....so it was really fun and exciting for everyone.
Stateroom Quality We had the best room in the house! Our room was large and we had a huge balcony! It was kept very clean and was in great condition when we arrived. We couldn't be happier!
Ship Staff Quality The hotel manager Henry was exceptional! He wanders around blending with the guest, wanting to get a feel of how the guests are being treated and if your happy. Anything at all, that you feel is not right, he does backflips to try and make right for you. We felt very pampered and treated as royalty.
Collapse List of Ports
Grand Turk Island Get a taxi and leave the port........this island is beautiful and you can snorkle right from shore. There is a reef within swimming distance. The sand is white and warm......and so is the water! This is a very pretty place...... would love to live there!
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) We like the beach...... so we enjoyed it to the fullest! Our grandson had a blast!
San Juan, Puerto Rico I wish the port was in a nicer area of the island. It is right in old San Juan and that area is kinda run down. The shopping is in store fronts, and similar to what you can get here. We had a cousin that lived here, so we were able to have her pick us up and take us to other parts of the island. Otherwise we would not have been real thrilled. It was kinda like landing in New York City with Palm Trees...... There are prettier parts of this island. You have to leave San Juan to see them though.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas This is a nice island. And it is pretty. Plenty of souvenier shopping. We did a snorkle excursion here. Not a lot to see.....but it was a party boat, so everyone had fun. Their crew was fun.

Cons:

We had a wonderful time with no regrets however if you are looking for top notch dining then please keep in mind that even though carnival works hard to satisfy they may not be able to fill the bill.... keep in mind that carnival is a great value I found that every day fair on the buffet was more then expected
